Stuart
Phillips began his hairdressing career at the age of 16, training
at Vidal Sassoon. At the age of 19 he qualified and set his
sights for Australia. Stuart worked as an International Hair
Stylist in Sydney’s top hair salons. During this time
he created amazing Hair Shows that were televised by MTV and
were staged in arenas and auditoriums to house the shear size
of the events.
Stuart
extended his travels to South East and North East Asia, including
Japan and Indonesia. Whilst visiting these countries, Stuart
was overwhelmed by the customer care and advanced technology,
thus giving him the inspiration to one day own his own salon.
 |
After
3 years Stuart returned home to London and continued his
hairdressing, this time in the mecca of style and fashion,
Covent Garden. It was during this time that Stuart met
Tabitha, who at the time was working for Virgin Atlantic
Airways Upper Class in a senior position looking after
the companies VIP’s. After a truly whirlwind romance
Tabitha soon became Mrs Stuart Phillips.
Towards
the end of 1994 and only into their first year of marriage,
Tabitha believed in Stuart’s dreams and knew it
was now the time to make them come true. Therefore, with
Stuarts highly talented hairdressing skills and his natural
business drive, combined with Tabitha’s flair for
art, design and fashion from her interior design background
and Italian heritage, her own extended travelling experiences
and first class people skills, they both realised that
together they had the perfect ingredients to create a
successful business. |
When opening their salon they knew the competition was going
to be tough so Stuart and Tabitha set themselves 3 main
objectives to be one step ahead of the rest. |
1.
To create the most relaxing atmosphere possible.
2. To have highly experienced and talented stylists and colourists.
3. To provide the best possible service in London.
All
this was achieved and more, but Stuart soon realised (along
with the help of his very stylish wife) that as an owner of
a top London salon his image was going to be as important as
the salon itself.

“Before
the idea of the salon came about, Stuart was a very casual
dresser, t-shirts, jeans, trainers etc. This was mainly
to accommodate Stuarts’ large frame and his lifestyle
at this time, as he was not only a hairdresser when we
met, but also a competitive body
builder”. Tabitha, along with not too much persuasion,
got Stuart to swap some of his bulk for a wonderful new
collection of outfits.

Within the fashion conscious industry Stuart very quickly
acquired his own distinct style, so much so that during
a haircut a regular client made the comment “I
have never seen you in the same shirt twice”.
From then on he set a challenge to all his clients that
should they catch him in the same outfit twice they
will receive a free haircut! The situation soon escalated
with several national and international magazines wanting
the story with full fashion spreads of Stuart and his
array of many outfits, included in these was a double
page feature in The Sunday Times Style Magazine.

Stuarts’ creative talents and high standards have
now elevated him to become a leading face within his profession,
he is in high demand working on movie sets and international
TV commercials, regularly contributing to all areas of
the media both behind the scenes and as a prominent personality.
|
| From
radio to television where Stuart was featured in the documentary
programmes “The Truth About Men” and BBC2’s
“Spend Spend Spend”. Appearing on other TV
shows being interviewed and demonstrating his cutting
and styling talents, these programmes include, This Morning,
GMTV, Sky News, Living TV, Loose Lips and Nickelodeon.
Other regular publicity includes features in many glossy
magazines showing makeovers, demonstrations and giving
hair advice. Recent work has been covered in OK Magazine,
Hello, Heat, Now, Closer, Top Sante, New Woman and Marie
Claire.
The
past years success of Stuart Phillips hair salon is contributed
by a host of reasons; Stuart and Tabitha have dedicated
their lives to the success and well being of their staff.
Their client care is paramount throughout the entire salon,
the work ethic of staff from apprentices to the stylists
is truly phenomenal.
